6:00 - 7:30 pm: Nell Peel Wolfe Lecture Series

Hear John T. Edge, author of The Potlikker Papers: A Food History of the Modern South, director of the Southern Foodways Alliance, recipient of the James Beard Foundation’s M.F.K. Fisher Distinguished Writing Award, and contributor to Garden & Gun, The Oxford American, and Southern Living. Barnes & Noble will offer his book for sale in the store in the Hogarth Student Center, and he will sign books following his lecture in Parkinson Hall. Everyone is invited to attend this lunch honoring the Class of 1968. Special presentation by the Maskers Band celebrating 50 years! (Tickets for Class of 1968 members are free of charge. All others: $15 per person) Pope Banquet Room, Hogarth Dining Center

Fannye Cook Presentation: Celebrate the life of Mississippi’s most noteworthy conservationist and 1911 II&C graduate, Fannye A. Cook. A glimpse at Miss Cook’s remarkable life unfolds in a half-hour, biographical performance by wildlife biologist Dr. Cathy Shropshire. Q&A will follow.
Personal Appearance Presentation: Barbara Black Travis, ’70, takes us down memory lane with a fun-filled, interactive “Personal Appearance” class just as it was presented in the 60’s and 70’s, but with an entertaining new twist. Barbara taught at MUW and later at Delta State where her work with students was featured in local, regional, and national magazines, The Los Angeles Times and NBC’s Today Show. Make a bid while enjoying delicious food with friends! All proceeds benefit the MUWAA Legacy Scholarship. Dancing and live music by the Music City Stones. See the classes march, presentation of awards, and singing of MUW songs led by the W’s Choral program. At the end, alumni will serenade the seniors as they take their first steps in the Long Blue Line and a special presentation by the Maskers Band celebrating 50 years! (Free and open to the public) Rent Auditorium, Whitfield Hall

 

11:30 am - 1:30 pm: Owls Tailgate *ticketed event 

Join fellow alumni, friends, parents, and fans for a pre-game tailgate at the newly renovated Don Usher Field. Stay and support our Owls Softball team as they take on Concordia College (AL) at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. Project CHEW will be serving street tacos with fresh salsa, guacamole, blue tortilla chips, and chocolate Kahlua cheesecake! Fun and exciting tailgate games provided by Campus Recreation. The first 50 to sign up will get an Owls XL T-shirt! ($10 per person) Don Usher Field

* Sodexo concessions will also be on site during softball game times!
** The Owls Baseball team has a double hitter against Tougaloo at Columbus High School starting at noon.

A dinner for all! We will honor the Classes of 2013, 2008, 2003, 1998, 1993, 1988, 1983, 1978, 1973, 1963, 1958, 1953, 1948, and 1943 with an evening of great food, great friends, and music by the W Jazz Ensemble! Celebrate Peppy Biddy’s retirement from The W with a concert of greatest hits from musicals of the last 30 years featuring current students and alumni in their original cast roles! End the Homecoming weekend with a chapel service led by the MUW Wesley Foundation and a special remembrance of those we have lost since last Homecoming. Carrier Chapel
