IRA Qualified Charitable Distributions
Alumni and friends like you have enjoyed making gifts of IRA qualified charitable distributions (QCDs) to fund scholarships, academic programs, campus projects, extracurricular activities, The W Fund, and other areas that make The W the extraordinary place it is for learning.
With a QCD, also known as an IRA charitable rollover, donors aged 70½ and older may transfer up to $105,000 in 2024 from an IRA directly to the MUW Foundation offering savings on taxes that otherwise would be paid on IRA distributions. This amount is adjusted annually for inflation.
In addition, it is possible to fund charitable gift annuities (CGAs) with QCDs. Donors aged 70½ and older may make gifts of QCDs totaling up to $53,000 in 2024 to fund one or more CGAs. A donor may take advantage of this opportunity in only one tax year during the donor’s lifetime.
Your QCD gift must be made before December 31, 2024, for the 2024 calendar year. IRA QCD transfer forms are available for you to review and print.
You also may wish to consider naming the MUW Foundation as a beneficiary of your IRA. Just as your IRA has provided benefits during your lifetime, your IRA can provide benefits at The W for generations to come.
