LindaThe Everything Store: Jeff Bezos and the Age of Amazon by Brad Stone Presented by Nancy Lippincott Ashley, B.A. 1967

What has changed in the past fifty years more than the way we shop and the way we read?

This biography of Jeff Bezos tells the compelling story of a bright, gifted young man who used his creativity, education and hard work to create, an online company that has become our friend!

More about the book . . . Born to a teenage mother, this bright and gifted young man grew up with excellent educational opportunities that were combined with hard work. He graduated as valedictorian of his class at Miami Palmetto High School. He married a girl he loves, and from a fledgling beginning has created the "Everything" Store using the power of the Internet. He also has a powerful interest in space travel and journalism. He is most interested in "what's happening next!"

At Manners of the Heart, we don't tell children they're great, we help them become great. We don't tell children they're the best, we help them become their best. We don't teach children to do the right thing for reward, but to do the right thing because it's the right thing to do. The outcome--their self-esteem is replaced with self-respect and self-control. Manners of the Heart schools experience a decrease in discipline referrals and an increase in academic achievement. How do we do it? How can you do it with your children and grandchildren? Jill Rigby Garner teaches us how to raise and educate our children so they can become all they are meant to be.
